On my 75 the seats are on a slight angle ? Like this but not so severe \ /.
Is this normal, i did have the interior removed in 1976 and may have put the seats in wrong.
Is there such a thing as L/R seats for C3s?, or is it just the mounting location of the holes in the body that decide the angle.
Check on the bottom of the seat where the two pieces meet. There is a bumper in there that you can screw in and out to adjust the seat angle. It may not be screwed in far enough to allow the correct angle. A pic would help to describe how bad of an angle you are talking about.
To adjust the seatback angle requires shims be mounted under the retractor that connects the top of the seat to the bottom. You can't just adjust the rubber bumpers because the seatback won't lock in place then. Sorry to say it is not a quick and easy change. Any of the usual suppliers has the parts you need to make the adjustment you want.
Hi mod 75,
I think you're asking about the how level the seats are when mounted to the underbody, not the angle of the seat back.
Since the seats are interchangeable side to side as resd mentions that really can't be the cause of what you're seeing.
I'd check to see that the seats are sitting on the carpet correctly, (cut out for the front mounts, on top of the carpet for the rear mounts); if things appear to be installed properly I'd then think the seat frames may not be mounted to the tracks properly.
If that isn't the case, perhaps a few washers used as shims under the tracks may help level the seats.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan
My fault in 1st post, the bottom of the seats appear to be alright, its the angle of the seat backs ( not forward or rearward angle) /\, it is that my seat backs appear to be facing the center of the dash console.
When viewed from the back of the car the passenger seat looks like its way off, drivers side is not to bad. I have checked the pivot points and they appear tight.
Considering that the passenger side seat has only been used maybe 100 times in 38 years, i cant figure out how it got this way.
Will check them out again today.
Thanks for all suggestions.
