The whole thing is nonsense and trying to pass it off on guys with 30-40 years experience just makes me laugh and and anyone buying an engine without knowing what parts are in it and the tolerances set for these parts gets what he deserves
Lotta times they may not specify what brand as they may run out of a stock and subsitute with a like brand that is real common. SpeedOMotive was doing this 20 yrs ago. Whatever will work that was a good buy for them on the business end makes sense. Now if someones building a higher dollar motor sure better be specific
With a low budget 383 though if it runs adoesnt knock or smoke really cant be picky. That right usually comes with a price tag attached to it.
I dont see how engine guys make a dime on them these days.

Wouldn't test be the whole point of blue printing? I'm not in the business of advocating for any company that I havnt done business with, but if you bought a crate engine that was '' blue printed'' shouldn't sell those tolerances be in the build sheet? I agree that if you don't know what parts come put together than the chances are equivalent to rolling dice.
What I can add to what LT1 is saying, is that I purchased the ATK rebuilt GM block that is included in the Skip White motor. I actually bought it from Summit, but ATK provides it to both. On inspection, three of the cam bearings were not centered in the webs, something I could correct. I then measured the main crank bearing bores, and they were all aligned bored out of limits. Combine that with the brand new Scat crankshaft being overground to close to limits, my main bearing clearance was at 038. This was on NEW parts. I could have had the main bearing cap reground, but why do this on what is supposed to be ready to go. It made me lack confidence in any of the machining done on the block.
So, this is my problem with trust. I chose to buy a GM ZZ4 shortblock brand new, and I only hope it is built right.
Others have had the exact opposite experience that you had:
Well, I trust our sponsered forum vendors (Blueprint Engines).
There are THOUSANDS of forum members on here and they don't want or need the bad rap of a bad deal.
And every forum review (even outside of this one) where there was a problem, Blueprint has logged on and offered any and all help.
I realize I'm not buying a $15,000 engine. And I dont need that.
I'm confident my Blueprint engine will do what I want.

That's just a business name, I could start one called " Best Engines In the World" doesn't mean they are, just a business name

Im with you there, I wasn't being specific about a company, but if you were ordering an engine and in the description it said it was blue printed then shouldn't it come with documentation that has bearing clearances as well, that's the whole point of blue printing right? To document all specifics about the engine?.....as far as the company name, it'd be pretty cheap to name your company and not stand behind your name.

I got the pleasure of of meeting the folks from Blueprint this week at PRI. I must say I was I was impressed with product knowledge and their williness to listen and learn. I look forward to future projects with them.
We went over their new USA made BBC block and it is one nice piece of craftsmanship.
