Default Door Window Removal Help

Hi

Can someone give some detail on the removal of the driver’s door glass on my ’78 please?

I have the Corvette Central instructions, but confess I’m a bit confused about the order of things as written in that. In particular I’m having difficulty with the front nut that holds the glass to the horizontal track. There is a hole in the inner door, but it doesn’t really line up with the nut! (The rear is easy, there's a big cut-out area to access it.) Is there something I don’t know there? I’m assuming it’s all best done with the window in the raised position? (It has power windows by the way)

My objective is to fit the “standard” Ecklers kit of new guides, so I need the glass out to make the swap.

Thanks!

If you move the window down a little it might line up better.

Thanks.

Unfortunately, both articles refer to early C3's, pre 77 anyway. The 78-on door is different.

It funny how all the "how to"s show the easy to get at rear channel nut and none show the front!

I guess it's not going to be the easy half day job that the Corvette Central article implies!

The front NUT is accessed through the area where your inner handle release is. I do it all the time. The inner handle release is the handle you use to open the door from the inside to get out of the car. Roll the window down and you will see it. If you do not feel comfortable getting a socket and extension to the nut...remove the 10 mm bolt and pull the handle release out of the way. Quite simple.

Start to finish....about 1.5 hours. I do it quite often and have literally done over a hundred. The trick is the front track.
