What adapter and brackets are you using on the block to hoist it out ? How hard was it to unbolt from the transmission ? I have an 81 with auto and debating on yanking out mine and dropping in a new one.

The engine leveler was $30 from Amazon
Unbolting the bell housing was a PITA for sure. Other than that, the whole thing was easy. Didn't even remove the radiator
Yep. You are committed now. I can see a lot of while I am at it projects coming up. I mean how many more opportunities will you have to clean up all of the engine bay items with the engine out. Good luck on your new project.
Really strange feeling pulling the engine from the SIDE isn't it? I hope mine goes back in as easy as it came out. Don't forget to replace the rear spring …WHILE YOU"RE AT IT! Ha Ha. Good luck.

Yes, wishful thinking had me try from the nose first.......not even close!
HAS to come out from the side
I pulled my BB a couple months ago. Never even pulled the hood. I did remove the water pump. removed the bellhousing and clutch while it was in the air. Just waiting on the machine shop..
