What adapter and brackets are you using on the block to hoist it out ? How hard was it to unbolt from the transmission ? I have an 81 with auto and debating on yanking out mine and dropping in a new one.

The engine leveler was $30 from Amazon
Unbolting the bell housing was a PITA for sure. Other than that, the whole thing was easy. Didn't even remove the radiator

Have you decided on which builder you're going with yet?

NICE! I changed out my 350ci too. Good choice going to the 383ci, have you thought of going to a 400ci SB?

Good luck, you made a very good choice!

Yep. You are committed now. I can see a lot of while I am at it projects coming up. I mean how many more opportunities will you have to clean up all of the engine bay items with the engine out. Good luck on your new project.

Really strange feeling pulling the engine from the SIDE isn't it? I hope mine goes back in as easy as it came out. Don't forget to replace the rear spring …WHILE YOU"RE AT IT! Ha Ha. Good luck.

I pulled my BB a couple months ago. Never even pulled the hood. I did remove the water pump. removed the bellhousing and clutch while it was in the air. Just waiting on the machine shop..

I've gotten pretty good at pulling my hood and getting back on correctly!

And I now have better access to clean and prep in there!
