Park Brake Console Seal
I have broken 2 of them so it's time for help please.
I purchased all new parts including the support assembly.
The seal slides between the support channels over the handbrake lever then forward. Does the seal need to be cut shorter at the front?
Every time I let the brake off the forward part of the seal bunches up and ultimately breaks!!
Help please as to what to do.
Thanks Mike

Are you sure the small trim insert that clips into the rear of the SHIFTER console is installed properly?
Then make sure the slide is feeding between the underside of the trim piece and the top of the bracket that mounts the e-brake handle.
Then start the back end of the slide in the e-brake console and slide the console forward.
Then make sure the e-brake console front drops down around the trim insert.
While you're doing this continue to move the e-brake handle to make sure the slide isn't binding.
Good Luck!

Alan
The pictures show the process backwards.

I've seen the reproduction consoles be foamed to thick on the back lip which can cause the trim bezel to not sit properly. If you have this problem, heat that area with a blow drier and using a panel clamp (looks like vise grips with a wide bill on the ends) you squeeze it down... Then cool it with a wet rag and remove the clamp, it will hold the new position.

Thanks for the great explanation. Unfortunately I still cannot get it to work. It's probably the foam like Willcox suggests. Interesting tho as all the new parts came from Willcox.

I'm hoping you can help me again, I have same issues with this park brake seal. My park brake assembly was completely missing, through eBay I now have the parts, mounting plate and park brake lever, new slide seal and the trim piece. After the seal goes forward under the trim piece does it extend under the shift panel, looking at your photos it almost looks like it rides over a roller before going under the shift panel. Is there some type if guide or roller??
Best regards,
Greg
BTW, I'm now registered in Dubai on Classic Plates.

One issue with some of the reproduction shift consoles that I've found in the past... some have too much foam where the forward extension clips in. When this happens it puts the slide in a odd angle and it can bind.
The solution is simple and you heat this area with a heat gun (blow drier), then crimp it downward and cool it with a cold rag. As with anything vinyl, if you heat it it will soften and cooling it quickly with a cold wet rag will cause it to hold form.

Willcox's advice is good.
What appears to be a 'roller' is just a curved part of the actual parking brake lever's bracket and mechanism.
It would be nice if it were a roller but it's not.
You car looks terrific! It must really turn some heads when you have it out and about!

Alan
