Default 1973 Wiper motor

Hate to ask for help but...
73 Vette wiper motor was just clicking, read and did everything on here and elsewhere...thanks WILLCOX! Great info but no help
Replaced motor, clicks when switch was activated, no movement so unhooked it again. Did the Willcox bench test again, no movement, some clicking. Re-did all my wires for the bench test, applied power from Alternator post and the motor moved 1/2 turn and quit...nothing of any kind since. Fuse is good, power is good and double grounded to 2 different spots. Hooked everything back up from Wiper switch to the motor and nothing...Thanks in advance...

Hi f,
Are you sure the switch located under the steering column that stops the wipers where ever they are isn't turned?,
Maybe?
Regards,
Alan

OK...so when you bench tested the wiper motor...did it work???

You have to get it to work on a bench test first. If it does not...then it is in the motor.
I know Willcox gave you solid information...but jsut incase something got lost somehow.
You have to have 3 grounds and one power.

One ground goes to the motor housing.MUST BE GROUNDED
Power goes to the CENTER terminal in the three terminals in a row.

Then the other two grounds are used to the outer terminals on each side of the center terminal.

There are three options of applying the grounds to the outer terminals...one terminal and NOT one on the other...then add a ground to the other terminal so there are grounds on BOTH terminals...and then remove the first ground you applied in the first option. This will give you PARK, LOW and HIGH speeds. I am not at work to tell you actually which outer terminals do what...but I know this is how it works and you can easily figure it out. I do it quite often when I have a problem wiper motor.

Hi f,
I realized about the vacuum, but I thought you still might have the switch to stop the wipers in the up position.
Sorry.

Alan

If the motor failed the bench test, then you need to replace the motor. Once you get the new motor, test it before you install it. Once you have a tested and installed motor... post back and tell us what you get.
