Ok guys, here the deal:
My dad got a very famous Vette (if you have the Car Craft 1975 November its on the front cover , anyways since i've (his son) have been doing all sorts of stuff to cars and anything else that has a engine he has decided to fix it up so that he can "hand it down" (I hope). The only thing it really needs is a new front bumper and a new paint job and it will be back. The car was basically free because everything that was put into it was given to us as long as we supported the company that made it when we went to shows and stuff. Its a 1968 chassis with 73,74,and 75 years parts on it. The original engine was replaced with a 327 about 4-5 years ago, but I believe that my dad is going to put a 350 in it. I'll post some pics of it a little bit later on.
My question for you guys is do you have any suggestions on anything we should try to get to make it look better? And how I should go about writing to different places to see if they would sponser the car.
 I have lots of old Car Craft Mag's, but I don't think I have any that old. The car looks to be really customized. I like the extended fenders on it. Any more pics???
How "very famous" can a car be that no one has ever heard of or has any recollection of? :)
It sounds like too much of a mix'n'match of parts to be financially reasonable to return to stock but I think your problem with marketing this car for sponsorship is as I stated above... Now if those links led to the Winged Express or an original Chi Town Hussler, that would be something different.
Sorry I can't offer you any useful suggestions since I have no idea what "better" means to you.
Yes, its going to get repainted and look just like it use to. The interior is also going to be redone. New seats, dash, gauges, steering wheel, radio, ect.
I'll take some more pictures of the car when I get home from work today. I'll make sure to get the entire car so you guys can see.
We have already talked to Blaupunkt and they said they would help out by sending us there new GPS/CD player :D . We trying to get a hold of Car Craft once again and seeing if they want to help out like they did before.
It's not like Superstar famous, Its been on Car Craft, Motor Trend, and one other magazine and they all did indepth storys on it i'm pretty sure.
I dont have any that i can post right now, but whenever I get home I will. Anything particular you want to see?
I am with Twinnie, I'd like to see some pics of the whole car :yesnod: :yesnod: Is it in any other later Car Craft mags? Like the mid 80's? Or any Super Chevy mags?
It looks like an interesting project. If you are planning on returning the car to as it was featured in the mags...I would just go with wider rims, leave the stripes off and maybe add a roll bar. I doubt you will find much in the way of sponsorship without them expecting you to put tacky advertisements all over your car and promise to take it to lots of shows. Also, if you want to build your car to match its looks...I would think big block...or at least a 383.
Can you give us more information about your car about who did the building and what made it a "Wild Street" Vette like the cover says. What suspension and motor upgrades it had, etc.
Sounds like a cool project for you and your dad! Best of luck with it!
