Found the problem with the crazy spinning steering wheel...evidently when we were trying to bleed the system the pressure dislodged an O-ring, which was causing it to leak and take in air. Cleaned and reinstalled the ring and now I've got power steering. :) Woohoo, motor is running strong and smooth, car is finally stopping properly, it looks like I can turn the wheels without engaging both arm muscles.....now I can drive it down the road and see what other problems I've got. Transmission most likely will be next, but I'll run it around a bit and see how it does. I've already got a spare in case it's truly shot.
Thanks for asking Eddie, at this point I'm just trying to finish up loose ends so I can actually drive it without fear of being stranded. :) Have to drill new holes to make the seat tracks fit, finish carpet, and install the stereo...that's about the only modification I'm doing, I have a friend who installs so he's building some fiberglass boxes that we'll paint to match the exterior. Fun stuff. :D Well, except for the top...so far I've been too afraid to tackle that beyond taking it apart, sanding and repainting.
