Default Fiberglass cracks

Hey All, I have a small cosmetic crack just in side the door where the interior bolts to the body. I was wondering if there is a crack repair epoxy that everyone uses ? It's not a real big crack but want to stop it from getting any bigger.

Drill a small hole right at the tip of the crack. That will stop it from getting any bigger. You can come back later and make repairs.

I use a product by evercoat - http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/de...0486&ppt=C0171

I purchased a smaller amount in a bag for around $25, I can't find it now, but it's the same as what's in the link above. It's very easy to use, just follow the directions.

Posting your year model would be a great help. It makes a difference...due to body construction materials used by GM changed through the C3 era. So a 1968 is NOT the same body material as a 1982.

Depends on how big. I posted on this once in the paint section I believe. Something like: "Hey it works for model airplanes...". Got flamed a bit but ignored the naysayers. Anyway had a bunch of hairline cracks around my hood surround and wasn't going to start gouging things out. So I used super glue, the liquid kind. Then painted the car a year and a half ago and nary a crack to show.

The hole drilling thing is really an old wives tale. There is no need to drill holes, the crack does not propagate like glass cracks. It will not get larger or grow unless there is added stress to it. Drilling a hole does little to stop a fiberglass crack.

Believe it or not that works quite well. Standard CA glue bonds very ell with epoxy glass and there are plastic versions that work on plastics. Check hobby shops for a selection of thicknesses in larger containers.

Not knowing what year you have or you posting photo of the crack...it is hard to really tell you what would be advisable for you to do to repair this.
