Default Installing outside door handles.

Has anybody come up with any tricks for for installing and tightening the two nuts that hold the handle in. I've done it a few times over the years and its always been a project with a lots of blood and cuts.

Remove the door latch it will give you more room and make the job much easier.

I'll give it a try. Does the latch require any readjustment after reassembly?

The latch should find itself back in position. The "door striker" is what is adjustable.

I remember the "cuts". I got a good pair of mechanics gloves and it helped a lot for those tight spots.

For me...I have a wrench that is the correct length so I can go and get the upper nut easily. The lower nut is no big deal.

I do not remove the latch due to the door handles often times have the studs being a bit too long and when the handle is installed...the upper stud on the handle actually contacts the latch mechanism...which means that the handle needs to be removed and the stud cut. I run into this about 20% of the time...so I always set the handle in first and check to see if the stud is hitting the latch.

Tried that and won't fit. I dropped the latch as suggested and much easier.
