I honestly prefer not to install a Hurst shifter in a Corvette. Stock always seems to work best. The main reason is that I much rather lift up on the "T" portion of a stock shifter and engage reverse easily...versus...having to forcibly slam the shifter handle on a Hurst to engage reverse...and them it possible contact the shifter plate.
That is just me...and I have worked on many Hurst shifters that have been previously installed ...so you can install anything...it will depends on how many modifications and adjustments you have to make to make it work.
The "devil" is in the details.
I do not know the difference in the two shifters you asked about....call their tech dept and ask them...or get on their web site and read.
A Hurst Super Shifter fits everything and nothing. It wasn't made for any particular body style. If it is a SS, it will require major surgery on the trans tunnel to make it fit. You will also likely lose a major portion of the console. The shift mechanism mounts very high on the trans tailshaft to put the shift rods in line with the shift arms on the trans.
If it is a Competition Plus, rather than a SS, then you can gather your particulars off the shifter and make an ID at Hurst's site: http://hurst-shifters.com/
I was looking at the comp plus--there is a direct fit model, but happened across a really good price on a super shifter and linkage all together...
Just was not sure if it would work or not without having to modify anything...
the comp plus for the vette looks like it is "straight" up and down (no offset), which is the same as the super shifter...but the mounting location makes a lot of sense, too...
Thanks, Guys
I've got a Hurst comp plus on my Camaro, and it is as smooth as silk...
The difference between the Competition Plus and the Super Shifter is the Competition Plus is designed for a particular chassis application. You buy the shifter to fit the transmission and the car it is going into. In this case, obviously, a Corvette. It will bolt in without modification to the car. The Super Shifter is designed to fit the transmission only. You cut or otherwise modify the car to accommodate it. It is basically designed for all out race cars where the speed and reliability of the shift is more important than the cleanliness of the installation. If you try to put the Super Shifter in your Corvette, you can be pretty sure you will have to do a lot of cutting and patching. My advice - get the correct Competition Plus shifter for your car. I have had several of them in various cars over the years and I love them.

The reason that the Super Shifter fits the trans, instead of car body, is two-fold: a) the shifter mounts higher and to the rear because b) the forward-gear linkage rods are straight (no curves) and larger diameter (stronger, less flex).
Competition Plus shifters are designed to fit the car body for much-less-to-no trimming, in place of OEM.
Unless you are drag racing the car and cutting tenth's or hundredth's off your E.T., mount the Comp Plus shifter kit designed for the car, if you wish to change.
