Hoping someone knows whats up.I narrowed it down to the transmission. At about 50 mph and up I get a pulsating vibration that shouldn't be there.Pop it in neutral and its smooth sailing.Trans is not leaking anywhere, yet. Its a TH350 that has about 2000 mi since rebuild Whats up? Thanks

What kind of exhaust? Often a harmonic occurs especially with hard welded custom exhaust.
Also make sure there is not too much negative camber at the rear wheels.
But indications are that it might be a balance problem since it stops with engine at low RPM.

Thanks for the replys. I looked at the driveshafts and the right halfshaft has a ding in it.That surely puts it outta balance I'm going to replace it and go from there.

Does the vibration have a cycle. eg vibrates for 1 sec stops for 1 sec. or is it a constant vibration @ 50MPH ?

Not sure how a ding would cause an out of balance condition; the material is still there??
I'm not so sure that a ding would throw it out of balance, I'm not so sure they were really balanced in the 1st place, since they turn at a somewhat slow RPM. However if the ding is enough that the Shaft is bent, that could do it.
everything aft of the trans correlates to road speed, forward is engine speed. the vibration starts at 50 mph (about 2000 rpm). run the car in first or second gear at 2000 rpm and try to duplicate the problem. that will help determine from where the problem originates.
I get similar drone at 50+. I've attributed it to my 12-year old super turbos and custom welded exhaust. It declines when I let off the gas exiting the highway.
Pinion is leaking a little and its a pulsating vibration ,like 1 sec. on 1 sec off.
I have the same problem on my 1978. Here are my symptoms.
Car in netural or park. Rev the engine to about 1800-2000 RPM I get a vibration. When I disconnected the torque converter I could not feel a vibration. Now my stock torque converter is about 1700-2000 Stall. I have not replaced the torque converter yet but I feel it has something to do with the problem. I dont notice the problem in 1st or second gear because the engine RPM vs speed of the car doesn't seem to be noticable, only in 3rd gear. Now when I drop from 3rd to netural I dont notice it, but this is because the RPM of the engine drops below the stall of the torque converter and disengauges. Did your torque converter get replaced when you rebuilt the transmission ?
When I got my military M1028, it had a pulsating vibration at about 35 mph. The driveshaft had a dent in it, got a new one made with new U joints and no more problems. In the surplus military vehicle world it is common because of forklift damage in the DRMO yards. If the dent is small you could try taking it to a driveshaft shop and have them rebalance it, but they may just want to replace it due to rust and age.
