Yes Hooker now has polished stainless headers and side pipes. Headers #2224-3HKR Side pipes #50735-3HKR About $1470 at Summits. Looks like nice work done on these. Not cheap, but hopefully no rust issues like found on other kits.
Be careful on claims of 304 or 321, most often they are from an offshore manufacture from who knows what kind of material they use.

Steve, since Stahl Headers is closing and they are selling everything, why doesn't ARH contact them and buy their jigs and fixtures for their road race side exit headers for both sbc and bbc engines?

Because we don't copy or get jigs from anyone. Not sure if you were being serious here.
Sorry if I hit a nerve. It was just a suggestion seeing as there are no quality race style side exit headers available in stainless. I had a set of Stahl's on my 435 car and the fit was nothing short of excellent. Kinda wish I still had them.

I think he was just hoping that you guys would add sidepipes or even just the sidepipe headers to give Corvette owners another option. I spoke to one of your guys the other day looking for 1 3/4" sidepipe headers that nobody seems to make.

We can build you a set.

Steve, I can appreciate custom build for a specific vehicle, especially for competition racing, etc., but I think 3X2's reference to having the jig/etc to produce high quality side exhaust, like you are doing with the straight back headers for about $1000 as compared to custom built from scratch for 2 to 3 times that each set made. It's a bit of a price difference and not everyone can make the drive to your shop. Just saying, to be able to purchase the side exhaust stuff would be a nice option, just as your straight back headers are. Side exhaust's are very popular with Corvette owners, so I wouldn't think that you would have a problem selling them.
Here are what the Stahl headers look like on their website. This is the style I'm looking to get- the BBC version for my car. If I could afford to purchase whatever I need from Stahl and then find someone to build them at a reasonable price, I would do it.

Thanks for the link. Those look like a street header, not really a performance race header. The original Chevy power book gives the dimensons for diameter and tube length which the Stahl's have. I wish I still had my Stahl's, at least it would give me a starting point to get a set made in stainless.

Steve, you hit it right on the head here! I do not trust any of the Chinese metallurgy at all. I tried a supposedly 304SS tip on a vehicle of mine from a trusted exhaust vendor several years ago. When I received the tip, it looked great & it was NON-MAGNETIC. So I figured good deal - 300-series stainless. After installing it (on my Ram PU) about 3 weeks later it starts rusting. So I polish off the rust staining with some No. 7, it comes back even worse a week later. The more I polish it, the heavier the rust gets. WTH kind of steel this crap was I have no idea, but it was NOT 300-series stainless! 300-series SS will NOT rust or corrode. The Chinee manufactures are bombarding us with not only poison foods, but just plain CRAP! They supposedly build to spec what customers want, but then substitute whatever junk they want when nobody is there to supervise. Down with Chinee-made crap!
Here's where I got mine, still available on e bay. OBX Side Mount Pipe Headers 63 82 Corvette C2 C3 SBC Header | eBay
Mine fit good, I heard others had problems. Get the ones without inserts and put the ones you want in. The ones with inserts are welded in and are hard to get out if you don't like them.
While I bought my OBX headers on eBay, and saved $500.00 over Hookers or others, its important to know that "you get what you pay for". These headers fit well, and went in without much trouble at all, but in less than 8 months, and 300 miles they have turned a shade of golden rust. To remove this I hope the stuff I got from the "Chemical Guys" works. But its clear to me that I will have to remove them, send them to be ceramic coated, then re-install them, probably costing me in the neighborhood of $400.00. So what did I save in the end? Nothing. Do they sound great? Yes they do, did they look great? for about 2 months. My advice to anyone who buys these headers and side pipes? Have the header ceramic coated before you put them in. OR by a different set.

Thanks for the post. I've been waffling back and forth on whether to spend $$$ on the Hooker stainless sidepipes. Sorry for your problems with the OBX pipes, but this is the one issue I've been concerned with using these lower cost pipes. If I'm buying stainless pipes I want to keep them natural and not coat them.

Those look great compared to mine.......I've polished mine out multiple times and within a month it comes back, gets worse the longer you leave it. Exact same thing with mine, purchased and put them on (they fit really nice, I didn't have to cut anything either) they lloked nice and sound great thanks to the vette packs. Good luck with yours. I just blew a head gasket so mine will be out for a while.
