I have been meaning to ask this for awhile and kept forgetting, but does anyone know how to fix a gap between the roof and the seal of my T-top. My passenger side is bowed, or at least looks bowed when installed, and will not seal/ I can actually see light between the surfaces.
A.) Between the weatherstrip and the car body itself.
B.) On the top itself where the weatherstrip is attached.
You wrote. "how to fix a gap between the roof and the seal of my T-top." which means the weatherstrip is not attached.
You may have the wrong type of weatherstrips installed which are really dense and hard to get to make the T-top seat correctly....but I can not tell from here.
I will have to take some. I am sure I have some rust up in there. I took off my speaker panels and found a pile of rust. I am sure I will have to do some welding repairs. But, I hope it isn't to the point that it is causing this.
My advise, buy new rubber molding and start from scratch. Loosen the latches and center pins. Then lay the roof panel on. Then shim and snug everything down slowly. Many times the rubber gets crushed or folds over on itself causing a gap. If the panel is actually warped? You have to take some foam weather stripping tape and tuck it under the weather stripping until you get it built up enough to seal. Sometimes layering the foam tape from large to smaller sections stacked is needed.
