Curious how that one piece gasket works for you. Mine leaked up front. Debating if it was the chrome timing cover not sealing, or gasket. I did not install but it is the correct one. I have seen numerous complaints on them. Works for some, not for others. I am going back to the old school gasket and rtv on the corners. Have done several of those in the past, never had any leaks.

are you sure its not your balancer seal leaking? It can look like the front of the pan leaking sometimes.
also, when it comes to engine parts: if it's chrome, it's gonna leak.
A couple more questions... Was the block side part of the seal difficult to get out? Did you do anything special to re-align the cap/thrust bearing?
Thanks!
I read a lot of stuff on that and it basically went okay. They say to pound it out by using a punch on one side. So I bought a set of brass punches (wanted some anyways haha). I didn't want to take any chances there. But I didn't even want to use those. So I cut off the plastic handle off of a brush and made a small punch/chisel out of that. I pounded for a while with that and it did not move. Then I saw that the metal insert in the seal was then exposed. So I got the brass punch and hit that part one time and it moved. Then it just slid right out.
It says to pound on the crank with a lead hammer one way then back. I did that with a dead blow hammer the best I could but I don't think I did much.

Well I'm gonna have to wait a while to see if it leaks with looking at the weather around here....

Yep timing cover front seal around balancer is not it. I have had chrome covers and 4 piece pan gaskets befor and not had a problem. However I was told you could scuff the inside surface where the from lip seal contacts the cover to remedy the issue.
Also, you may have to go back and retorque the bolts to stop the leaks. Even if you bottomed out the bolts on the built in spacers in the gasket. I just did my 69 bb and it still ozzed a bit, but after a few heat cycles and 2 retorques, I'm good now.
One more piece of advise. Put the timing mark straight down before you unbolt everything. It'll give a little extra clearance from the crankshaft to slide the pan down & out.
