Headers
Another dumb question...do headers wear out? My '73 has headers but they are all rusty looking (I haven't gotten in close enough to give a full inspection) and I was wondering if I should look into replacing them. Whaddaya think? :confused:

They will rust out if they are not ceramic coated or coated with good heat paint. As long as they don't have holes and you are ok with how they look,*and they are not leaking* you can leave them on.

My first set of Hookers rusted in the collector area within about five years. They developed pin holes leaked air and sounded bad so I ordered a new set. This is the current set on the car now. When the headers arrived, I mixed up some epoxy primer and coated the insides of the headers really, really, really well and let the primer dry. That was about 20 something years ago and they still don't leak. The outside chrome is a bit worn and rusty near the collectors, but all in all....they still work fine.
