Default Polyurethane bushings

Does anybody have polyurethane bushings on their vette? I hear they make a big difference in controlling body roll, and I found a complete set for a vette in Jeg's, now the question is should I order them? I figured they would be a good complement to the Edelbrock Performer IAS shocks I will also be ordering. Thanks.

They make a slight difference and are easier to press in than Rubber. If you need to replace bushings I would say go for it. Its a little rougher and squeaks a bit (marine grease helps the squeaking though). But it is a pain to install. Unless you plan on going through your entire suspension anyway, I would caution against it. Its a BIG job.
good luck!

Terry is right about it being a big job :yesnod: . If your bushing do need replacing though I'd recommend the poly's. I bought the Energy Suspension poly bushing kit for my car and haven't regretted putting them on my car. It's a nice kit with 2 sheets to find the part numbers in the bushings for the right places in the suspension. The grease they supply really helps with the installation too.

The hardest part for me was getting the old A-arm bushings out (you'll need a press). You may be able to take the A-arms to a garage to have the bushings replaced ;) .

Go poly! It doesn't squeak (in warm climates anyway). Strut rods are a piece of cake. I got someone to do the others.

PS. I have Energy Suspension bushings too!

I have some of the Energy Suspension poly bushings on my '77. I also bought adjustable rear strut rods with poly bushing. I'm very happy with them.

I'm using Energy Suspension poly bushing from Summitt. I used the grease supplied on the bushings and haven't had a squeak yet.

I put poly throughout my Vette a couple of years ago. Doing the rear is not that big of a deal if you aren't doing the trailing arms. The front end is a bigger job. I like them so much, I just ordered a complete car set from Energy Suspension for my '66 Big Block Caprice.

If the polyurethane bushings squeak that means they weren't installed properly. The polygraphite bushings won't squeak as much but they still can if installed wrong. The poly actually reduces the static load compared to rubber bushings and the suspension will sense the bumps easier. Depending on springs and shocks the poly will actually make the car ride better.
