I'm re-conditioning a '74 Coupe. The fuel vent line from the canister to the fuel tank appears to be clogged. I tried to blow it out using compressed air (approx. 90 psi), but nothing dislodged. I've squirted some Carb & Choke cleaner in it ... let it sit overnight and hit it will compressed air and still nothing dislodged. I then poured several ounces of thinner in and let that sit and after trying the compressed air again I'm now seeing some seepage coming out the other end. Just wanted to check to see if this line should be essentially clear or is there some sort of restrictor in there? Thks
that vent line has check vlv in it to prevent tank slosh from making its way out of tnk to the charcoal canister. but maybe clogged both ways.
vendors now have that reproduction check vlv. i swapped mine after removing the rear tire making a 1 arm reach.
hope this helps,

Thks cardo0 ... if you're talking about the black plastic assembly near top drivers side of tank, that part is good. Right now I've got both ends of metal line disconnected and just trying to clear it.
Hi j,
Your right, the black plastic part mounted on the tank is the 'separator'.
Supposedly it returns any liquid fuel to the tank while the vacuum in the canister pulls the fumes through the line into the canister.

Alan

"Seperator" ... couldn't think of the name ... thks again Alan.
Problem solved. Picked up some Denatured Alcohol last night and filled line from engine bay end and let it sit for about 1/2 hr this morning. Then I hit it again with 90# of compressed air and that seems to have cleared it out. Thanks for your inputs.
