I'm installing a rebuilt carburetor. A new thick paper-type gasket came with the Q-jet.
My question is; what type of sealant should be used on the gasket?
Carb base gasket goes on dry. The bigger question is which manifold do you have? If it is a smiley face (groove under QJ front terminating in small round exhaust ports). If so, you need a 3 gasket sandwich. Do a search for details...

Dry? Really? It IS a "sandwich" type of gasket. I'm just worried about vacume leaks.
Yup. Dry. No goop required.
If you insist on some sort of goop, use only an anti-seize compound. Not necessary or recommended. But if it will make you happy...........
It's your car.
Bolt torque for a Qjet is very low. Use a screwdriver type nut driver and hand tighten only. Or you will crush the front of the carb.
If you look at a Q-jet, you'll see that the back of the carb is held on by the carb base, but in the front, you've got these two long bolts that go all the way through the carb. More than one Q-jet has met an untimely end from having those two front bolts over-tightened. Easy does it!
Most folks will tell you that carb gaskets don't need any sealant or dressing, they just go on dry. I'm not going to say they are wrong, either. But I'm one of those guys who likes a little insurance when it comes to gaskets of almost any sort, and I say a light spray of Permatex Copper Spray-A-Gasket on both sides of the gasket isn't going to hurt anything, and won't make a mess if you do need to remove the carb someday.
Please do a shot with the gasket off.
This to see if you have the heat cross-over, aka smiley-face manifold.
The sandwich is 3 gaskets.
You have a single thick gasket which is probably correct.
Regardless, you do not need sealant.
