Default new power steering system help!!

Hey guys sorry if this is in the wrong place. I did look for a power steering thread. I replaced my power steering system, AC Delco remanufacutred power steering pump, control valve, cylinder and all new lines. I turned the wheels lock to lock 20 plus times and refiled the fluid until It didnt move any more.

My question is do i need to use the bleeder on the bottom of the control valve for getting air out. Should I start it and then open that valve please let me know I really don't want to turn my fluid to foam when I first start it back up. Should I start it then open that valve?

Thanks Guys

It self-bleeds. Turning the wheel with the engine off purges most air from the system. Once you start the car, turn the wheel lock-to-lock a couple more times and all the air should be out. Recheck the level after you've done this as it will probably be a wee bit low. What air -mostly bubbles- may be left in the system following the engine off and engine on purging is inconsequential and will quickly purge itself.

And do not over-fill the pump, you'll make a mess.

And don't forget to balance the valve. New or rebuilt valves should always be centered after installation.

If you haven't done so and don't have the instructions, you'll find them at this link: Just click on supporting document.

Every now and then, it takes a couple days for all the air to get out of the system.
