Fabricated new throttle cable bracket for Quadrajet
Hi all!
As the headline says, I fabricated a new bracket for the throttle cable for the Quadrajet. The stock bracket has a pin underneath of it to avoid rotation, but that works not verry well and so you can not adjust the cable as it should. That causes, that the throttle blades don´t open fully when you put the pedal to the floor
VERY NICE bracket...very clean! BUT...if you have power brakes...it will have to be modified to clear the fitting that goes in the rear of the base plate for your power brake booster...which is not in Gunther's carb.
Also...for whatever it is worth...when I am using the factory bracket for the accelerator cable...and I am not getting full throttle...I have found a much easier way to fix the full throttleissue. I remove the accelerator pedal and "tweak it". YES..I have some awesome tools that allow me to get to the top bolt and loosen it...because the top bolt does NOT need to come all the way out. When it is re-installed...I can achieve a full throttle motion. Also...If the owner is dead set on having to have carpeted floor mats...I can adjust the pedal for them also....along with getting it straight again so it is not binding on the transmission tunnel carpet/plastic scuff pad...which is due to years of being used...it can get slightly tweaked.

I mentioned that to Gunther in a PM. Things can get a little complicated in that region. But I admire him for his innovation talents!

Sorry that I did not know you mentioned that to him. and I understand that his ability to fabricate this is AWESOME...but my comment was for many people who may not have see the issue and get one from him...or copy his design ...only to find out that there is an issue.

Well I thought a pic would show that some things are not universal. Gunther is an old hand here and would not ship out a part that does not work.
BTW, months ago you gave me some advice over in the body repair section re minor epoxy repairs. I did a faux pas on installing the side mounting bolt (one side) for my hardtop last autumn. I took that advice this spring and things worked out very well!
