It would not be wise to change pistons/rings without re-boring the cylinders. The present rings have worn to match the wear in the cylinders. Putting new [round] rings into worn cylinders is a recipe to lots of blow-by oil and potential disaster.

If you are not blowing oil smoke now, the rings are still sealing well. Leave them alone. I would just check a couple of rod and crank bearings, and if OK, let the engine live its useful life. You can change heads, cam, etc. without redoing the pistons/rings/crank.

If you really want different pistons, have the block re-bored.

Thanks been in the shop all day getting tranny out and getting everything ready to pull engine, had to unhook linkage from side of tranny and I believe no I know I have shifter linkage out of sink but that is another day
I also heard something hit the floor when I removed the reverse switch any ideas on that I could not find it and it had to be extremely small
No smoke; so just new valve seals and lots of shiny stuff for now
I really appreciate your reply I am new on here and this is my first Vette and maybe my last not as much room as a 55 or 57 or even a Nova
