Default rear compartment doors

I bought a set of rear compartment frames form willcox corvette...

They came in a Corvette America Box...

Is there a trick to getting them to fit the OEM doors--I was trying to avoid buying an entire assembly, but the frames do not seem to fit the OEM doors, let alone trying to fit them with the new carpet pieces on them... carpet on them

Thoughts?

Hi Keith,
The carpet shouldn't cause any problems since it just sits on top of the fiberboard door and doesn't wrap it at all.
Can you use the old carpet pieces as a guide to see if the new pieces need to be trimmed? Usually they don't.
As far as fitting the doors in the frame is concerned all I can suggest it to try to determine where the door edges are binding on the frame and sand enough of the door edge to allow it to slip into the frame.
You profile doesn't indicate what year car you're working on so I'm thinking 73+ from your avatar.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan

Thanks, Allen--it is a '77

The carpet will definitely need considerable trimming, and I'll see about sanding the doors....

I might just go ahead and order the whole assembly....anyone know in the one manufactured by corvette America uses the same tint carpet as ACC?

Hi Keith,
Since it's a later car I may have given you bad info… are your doors even fiberboard? or had they change to plastic by 77?

Alan

Maybe they sent you the wrong door frame set. Give them a call. They can stick anything in a bag with a label.
