Need new motor
My 383 stroker went to the great engine shop in the sky the other night. After a particularly spirited run, it sounds like someone is rapping on the inside of the block with a ball pein hammer. Haven't dropped the pan yet to find out exactly what let go, but I would bet the family ranch I am going to find a spun rod bearing. If I rebuild the existing engine, or build the 427 I've been thinking about, it is going to have to wait until next winter. I hate to lose a whole summer of driving the car, so I'm thinking about picking up a 383 short block and dropping it in the car. I would like to hear some recommendations on who I should deal with to buy a 383 short block. (Two piece rear main seal, driver side dipstick.) Any suggestions?

if you spun a bearing you can invest in some machine shop work and be back on the road in a week or two.
