My Side mirror on a 1970 moves when I shut the door and even to a lesser extent when I go over a bump. Is there any fix or just get a new mirror? It appears to be original to the car so I am not inclined to replace it

Where is it moving???
Does the head move???
Or is it the base where it is secured to the door????
If the head is loose...replace it or rig it if you wan to keep the original.
The base can be repaired....sometimes...but I usually have had a 50/50 split on getting it back tight again.
You need to remove the glass first, then you can address the loose ball joint.
Remove the mirror and soak it in gasoline, that will break down the adhesive, and allow you to remove the glass. You will then be able to see the issue. If the mirror uses rivets to secure the ball joint, you can make small shims and insert them into the joint to tighten it. If there are screws and a plastic bushing, the plastic is probably torn, replace it and tighten the joint up.
You can the use silicone adheasive to glue the glass back in.
Mine always move too. I use small dab of crazy glue or similar. That lasts a few months or until someone bumps it. A small amount will not show, hurt anything, or be permanent. Just make sure it is clear glue. Just one small drop will do the trick. I use a small tooth pick to get in inside and wipe any excess immediately that shows on the outside.
Is the entire mirror moving, head solid but loose at the place where the entire mirror meets the door? Or does the mirror head tilt and move on the stalk.
Different issues and fixes.
There is an install kit with new rubber 3/8 nuts to firm up the base to the door if that is where it is loose.
