Default Horn not functioning

I have a 72 that I'm currently restoring and my horn is not functioning. I have no power to the green wire that goes to the horn when you press the button on the steering wheel. Has anybody had this issue or maybe know of a flow chart of where to start testing to determine the problem?

Have you checked the horn relay? I had the same issue with my 72. I disassembled the horn relay, cleaned the contacts and the horn started working. I verified that the horn was good by running 12 volts directly to the horn.

Here is the troubleshooting guide I used to solve my horn issues. It's easy to follow and understand.

Mine on my 81 miraculously started working after replacing the rag joint... Just sayin

Dunno if that makes it ground related... Or just jostling the column around helped it out...

The ragjoint provides 'ground' for the horn electrical needs; +12vdc power is supplied by the horn relay and wiring to the horn button/switch.

I have not checked the relay. I wanted to start there to first confirm it was good. I wasnt sure how to check its functionality. I see the diag article that Iceaxe posted should be most helpful with checking the system. I will dig in and let you know what I find. Thank you all for the help!

Just what he said. If the horn works after jumping 12v to it, then work your way back from there to see where the issue is...
