Default '68 Factory A/C Questions

I thought my car was a factory A/C car however after re-reading the engine suffix (HT) I realize it was not. The car does have what appears to be a factory A/C setup as shown in the pictures. I purchased the A/C harness with he new wiring harness and found that the connectors would not fit through the hole in the firewall. The assembly manual shows the hole as 1.62" however it is only 1". Where the holes in the firewall different from A/C to non A/C cars? The manual does not say. I was going to have the non working A/C repaired however since it is not working or original should I just go aftermarket?

Sure looks like a factory system. Do you have 68 AC interior peices to go with it?

If it were me, I'd be inclined to keep what's there and open the firewall hole.

The controls are from a later car..maybe '69 but there is enough to make it work.

With all the piece present, do what is necessary to get it working.

Okay. Enlarged the hole and the wiring harness is in. C'mon ice cubes.
