I got desperate (they did not pay well at all) for a job when I was about 18 so I applied at the local auto parts chain store. I saaw why you don't have to know much to work there. The questions they asked me, were things like, "do you know the difference between a domestic car and foreign", How many spark plugs in a V8", and "Should you change the oil filter when ou change the oil." You don't have to be brilliant to be hired their. They also gave a spelling test. I could not believe it. It included hard words like, spark plug, distributor, and battery. I had to almost laugh when he said how shocked he was, that I scored perfect on the test. Said that never happens much. I would love to see the "geniuses" that failed the test.

I gave a simple test some time ago to a PSG (Parts Store Genius.) I was purchasing a generic headlamp and asked the PSG if it was a right or a left since it didn't say on the box. He got the manager (PSG II) who "had to check it out on the computer." Not feeling like a long wait, I told the PSG to take my money and I'd take my chances that it was the one I needed. :jester

Once when I was at an autozone, some kid was asking for a job. Now this guy had unwashed hair, dirty clothes and talked like he hadn't graduated 4th grade. At one point the kid asked the manager what kind of experiance he needed. Manager said "none". I believe him.
