350 ci, 300 hp 1970 Corvette with Carter quadrajet carb. Engine idled OK until last week. Flooded engine badly ( it doesn't like to start when it is warm - starts fine if cold or hot). After it finally started, it idles at about 500 rpm when it's cold, but when it warms up it dies, including between gears at slow speed. What happened & what-s the fix?

The float in the carb could have gone bad and or the fuel pump is going bad.
There are about a dozen things it could be, including the float and the choke settings of course.
But I would check your timing first, then move on to the carb.
Did you pull your plugs and clean them up after the great flood? You might also want to have a sniff of the dipstick to make sure there isn't a bunch of gas in your oil.
Thanks everbody. Found gas in the oil, so changed the oil. Pulled the plugs and the were not in good condition. Changed the plugs today. It started right up and idles great. FYI: I bought the car last summer after owning it from 1971 to 1984.
