Default Finding a miss

The other day when I left my house the car hesitated a sec and then was fine. Came to a stop sign and could feel a miss. It cleared up and thought I was good. Well, wrong it started again. Looked at ignition wires and rear right was burnt and hard as a rock as it came out clip and was resting on exhaust manifold. I changed them this morning and still has a dead miss. Any ideas?

Many ideas...but need to know WHAT YEAR you car is...and what type of ignition is installed in the engine. Points style, HEI or aftermarket system.

Gonna wait for it to cool off some outside and will start pulling plugs. I noticed the difference pulling one wire at a time. Seams to idle fine but when start slipping the clutch to take off you can feel the miss, shake and low power.

Now the nervousness kicks in. Found the problem. 7 clean plugs and one with burnt oil buildup. Gonna throw some new plugs in and run it this week and recheck the plugs.

Having a bad plug wire could easily cause a plug to foul out, especially on an older engine with a few miles on it. I hope a fresh set of plugs helps.

The plug wire that was bad was on the other side, wish it was the case. I changed all the plugs and she is running great. She has never blown any smoke so hopefully a plug was just going bad and fouled. Will test it out throughout the week. Probably pull it next weekend after I put some miles on it and look at color.

Same here. Already explained the worst case scenario to my wife. I said I could pull it and rebuild in the garage but it's time consuming and the smell of oil and such or buy a ready to run motor and have my friend mechanic take care of it. She asked how much for the 2nd option. Haha
