I am almost ready to put my '73 on the road and am having a hard time finding tires for the car. I am running P235/60R15's and looking for the same. BFG/Michelin has no tires available in the country right now as I dig around and have Discount tire looking.
I see a number are running the Cooper Cobra tires.
You are 100% correct, nobody has them! Costco said they can get them and then put me on back order.
I inquired about the cooper tires on here and everyone had very good comments but they just don't have the BFG look but I think were gonna have to give in. My tires are shot!
What about going to 245's or 255's? Are those available?
Good luck with this. Several years back, I needed 6x 245's and 2x 235's for 2 Monte Carlos I own. took 4 weeks to get them from my local Americas Tire. Someday I will have to switch to 16's or larger. No muscle car-sized 15's readily available anymore...

Trying not to go too big, I like the look of the 235's and am not ready to go to a bigger wheel yet...
I did track down some Mastercraft Avenger G/T tires too so those are an option.
They just sound like they should be going on a boat and not a car
the correct optional size is 255-60-15. try tire rack and amazon. the coopers are a good choice, just seems wrong with a tire named cobra on a Corvette.
245 and larger size is "iffy" on a '73 car. You may (or may not) end up with tire-rub in front wheel wells. 235's will work OK for sure. If you have no other choice, keep width as small as you can find.
If you can't find BFG's, prices for Cooper tires will go up just because of the lack of competition.
I would have no problem running Cooper tires, if BFG's were no longer available; they are a good tire.
Have you thought about upgrading your wheels to 17". Better handling and lots of tire options.
There are 17" rally wheels in steel and aluminum. Here is one option that looks interesting. https://www.yearone.com/Catalog/whee...-cast-.-trucks
Well problem solved as I managed to track down a set here in Colorado as Corvette Connection has been helping me out and now that the tires are taken care of, well, more parts replacement has begun on a car that has set for way too long.

I have a set of cooper 255's on my 73 with no problems.
