Hi Wes,
I believe that in 1968 the speakers were mounted in the kick panels.
Regards,
Alan

In my '69 they're in the kick panels. I doubt if a '68 would be any different.

1970-77 C3's had 4" x 6" dash speakers. The 1968-69 cars had 4" x 10" speakers in the kickpanels. You will have difficulty finding any 'decent' 4x10 speakers; most are just poor copies of an originally poor speaker.

But, other speakers will fit in there. You can fit 4x6's, but they will not reproduce lower frequencies well. 5-1/4" round speakers will fit and 5x7's will fit with some "adjustments".

Two things you need to pay attention to: the stock Delco radio has a 10 ohm output impedence and the speaker impedence should match. Most audio speakers are 4 ohm and this would not be good, as it would probably cause the amp to burn up if the volume were turned up very far (too much current drawn with 4 ohm speakers). An 8 ohm speaker would work, if you can find one.

The other issue is the depth of the speaker. You need to measure the depth available so you purchase speakers that fit.

They are not different. Stock locations for 68 and 69 were behind each kick panel. 4x10 with mounting tabs.
