When I apply the parking brake, the lever slips off of the rear shoe for some reason. I am not sure how to correct this. All new parts and adjusted correctly for a few pulls of the lever then the shoe slips off of the lever.
I believe the lever gets pulled in towards the backing plate and off of the shoe for some reason.
I have the star wheels adjusted as tight as possible, then I put the rear wheels on ramps and adjust the cable tight which works for a few pulls then the lever slips off of the rear shoe.
I have been struggling with this problem for a year now. Please help.
I have had the lever slip off due to it being slightly rounded at the tip of the lever and NOT FLAT so when it makes contact with the shoe..it will slip off.
I do not know if that is it...and not being able to see what you have going on...it is hard to comment any further. But I have been 'bit' by this before. I ALWAYS inspect the parts...even if they are new.
You are aware that there is an adjustment procedure for your parking brakes...which is not what is causing your issue.
The lever is installed on the correct side, but the lever in your diagram has more hardware than mine. Mine has no u clip. Mine seems to only make contact with the shoes and the cable.
I will double check that the star wheels are installed correctly and I will check the roundness on the levers edge, but other than that I am thinking bent or warped backing plate or a bad lever?
