Default 1969 Grounding Question

Where does the black wire that comes from the blower motor ground? There are 2 black wires that come off of the terminal that is held to the blower motor by one of the motor mounting screws. One goes into the harness and heads back towards the master cylinder/driver side but I'm not sure about the other end. Does it go back towards the wiper motor in the harness and then turn down with the starter wires to ground somewhere on the motor or at the solenoid?

After the harness is done then it's time to start this thing up!!!!!!!!!!

Ideas?

Thanks,
Sum

on my 73 AIM it shows this grnd wire going to the bellhousing mounting bolt - the same bolt that the battery clamp goes on. This is for an M20 4 spd.

They probably changed locations over the years

Hi,
The battery cable clamp bolt is right there too.
I wonder why the change was made?

Alan

I think that where the 69 had it made more sense since the grnd is closer to the starter. But the start mount bolts are a pain to install without the additional wire to deal with.

I don't know how they installed the starter at the factory, but I need to prop up the starter on blocks pretty much in the install position. Hand holding a starter and trying to start the bolts with the other hand, is near impossible.

Alan, BTW, nice touch with the pigtail on your grnd wire.

While we are discussing in this area. The bellhousing bolt that holds the positive battery clamp must have been assembled after the body drop.

So is this bolt different than the other 6 bolts. I don't imagine the factory would have removed the bolt, then added the battery cable clamp.

If this bolt was vacant during engine painting, should this one bolt be unpainted since it would have been added after the body drop?

Hi Steve,
Interesting point.
I really don't know.
Since there was supposedly no engine orange paint at St.Louis I guess your thought is correct.
Things like this make me realize how little attention I was actually paying to the details 25 years ago. I remember seeing the engine suffix code written in crayon on the side of the block upside down, (because of the way they were assembled), and didn't bother to take a picture of it.
So something else to go on the growing list of things to wonder about. I
Regards,
Alan

The tail is pretty long so I wrapped it around my index finger and left it that way!
