I have what I believe to be an early to mid 70's Qjet (exc condition) sitting in my basement. Not sure what it's off of, most likely a passenger car. Anyone want to comment if this is even worth putting up for sale?

Post up the carb number. Regular small-block Chevy Q-Jets are worth about $75 as core builder-carbs. If it's a big-block Vette carb, it could be worth just under a grand. If it's a '72 Cadillac carb, it might be worth $25... It all depends on the carb number and the condition of the carb: If it's been commercially rebuilt, you'll have to pay someone to take it off your hands.

I haven't been on the forum in a while but my first thought was .... Where Lars when you need him?

No one knows a qJet better. Is he still on the forum? He rebuilt 2 for me a few years ago and they are still amazing !

A rusty, corroded '73 3/4-ton truck carb with missing and damaged parts is worth about $20 as a parts core. Since shipping will run you about $20, the net worth of the carb is right at zero, unfortunately.

Original '69 - '71 Vette Big Block Q-Jets are selling for around $1,200 if in restored condition, and if they are "real." There are a bunch of fake re-stamps out there due to the prices being commanded. A good, original, unmolested core that is not warped or corroded will sell for up to $800.

It's actually one of the original carbs off the Titanic: Little-known fact that the Titanic used a multi-carb Q-Jet setup...

Everyone was calling the Corvette Mechanical FI units crap in the mid sixties, too, and they were yanking them off to be replaced by Holleys... The Pontiac crowd was junking the Tripower setups and installing Holleys... Corvette BB Q-Jets were being replaced by Holleys...

Now, you can buy those Holleys for under $100, and the FI units, Tripowers, and the BB Q-Jet carbs are selling for thousands. Prices are only going to keep going up as fewer good Q-Jets are suitable for rebuild.
