Just got one on E bay for $71 with tech drive, Since this 71 is a project I'll see how it works. They claim there is a price war going on. I prefer MSD but don't have the funds right now.
My 85 has the MSD and 6al box, runs excellent with the 383+ 6 spd. My truck has the MSD also.
I like the stock units. I'd buy something like these,

He has a '74, so his car did not come stock with HEI. He needs a tach drive unit if he wants his tach to work...

Oh ok tack drive HEI. Well maybe I'll buy them. Damn good price for two HEI's and free ship to boot.
One of these seem pretty good deal for your application if you need wires as well. Made in USA and 100% positive feedback on the seller.

Thanks all. Looked at those units but I think only the wires are usa made
The Heli in the car was not tech drive. I just put the new distributor into the car and put in the tech cable. I used a .03 drill and got the old plastic out of the Tachometer.
The car runs very well with the new set up and the tech is reading good.
The distributor felt tight and fit well with no wobble.
Since its not a high performance engine setup (350 hp), I did not want to spend the extra money for a MSD.
