Default 77 turn signal

Hi Guys ,
I'm trying to break down the column to get at the turn switch .
I think the ignition switch is holding in the steering cover . How do I remove or release the ignition barrel ?
Also does anyone know where I will find one of these dreaded '77 turn switches .
Thanks , Maurice .

It seems loose but won't release .

You don't need to go any further in the column.. Cut the wires at the top of the old switch, un-pin the wires in the new switch and then use the old harness to pull the new on in place.

I have the switch here: http://willcoxcorvette.com/product_i...oducts_id=1428

You'll see the t/s switch installed on this page, just click supporting document.

Thanks for that , I have a new carousel switch already . GM7827152.is the part I need , hence I need to pull off the cowling to get at it . So if you could tell me why the ignition barrel won't release that would be great .
Thanks for you help though.
Maurice.

7827152 is the wiper switch, your title said turn signal.

The links below will walk you through the entire process. Your going to have a hard time finding that switch... it's discontinued and no longer available.

Thanks Jim .
I removed the cowling OK . I was trying to make out where the break was in the assembly . I'm stumped .

So What are my options ?

Option one is replace the switch .... but there is none available .

What is option two ? Replace with a less troublesome Column 72 or 79 for example . I'm not the first to run into this problem what is the next move normally ?
Was the '77 the only column to have all these functions in the switch ,
if I change to say a 71 will I need to put a separate wiper switch for example ?
The only problem was the turn signal would not latch ,everything else worked .
