Default 69 BBC Starter Wiring Help!

Hi all,

OK! so my 69 was converted to HEI by previous owner. I am staying HEI with the new 454 putting in.

I got a Powermaster High Torque starter...it only has the ignition lead, I believe that is the "D" side. No "R" side is needed.

they have said the "R" side in only for a resister and is not necessary if a car was converted to HEI...

So, questions....what is the R and D of the starter wire hookups for?

Thanks!
Ron

Never heard of a D connection, R for the coil wire and S for the switch wire on the solenoid, no instructions came with the starter?

HI Mel!

Yes...sorry...the R side. I have an HEI, but they still connected the R& S....
according to powermaster sheets and links you supplied...it says no R is necessary, unless there is no cranking...

gonna check into that kit...

which color is "S" wire from the harness?

thanks,
R

The small wire on the inside close to the block is needed. The outside wire (looking up from under the car) is a coil booster for starting and isn't needed. Sounds stupid but it's true....
