tachometer wiring
so I got the project car running now and I noticed the tach is stuck on 30, so I checked the wiring at the distributor and I have a brown connector with nothing going to it and I cant find anything that would attach to it. I found the white wire that comes from the engine harness and goes to the tach filter which goes to the distributor then theres a wire coming out of the same connector only a inch or two long with a brown connector on the end of it and that's the one that I don't know what to do with

That 'pig tail' is used to connect test equipment to....such as another tach for tune-up and diagnostics when needed. IF you have the WHITE wire in the distributor cap and it is connected...I would think that you have a bad teach board in the tach itself ...or NO power going to the tach due to a blown fuse...or you have an open wire from the distributor to the connector on the backside of your tach...and may need repair...or you lost the ground to the tach...which is also on the backside of the tach....or the tach filter is bad and not allow current to flow through it...or dirty connections.
