Go electric fan, oil and water pumps. Those accessories eat up alot of hp.

73-LS4, what do you mean by recurving the distributor?
Simply put, It referes to setting up your advance curve for maximum power by changing the weights and springs in the distributor. Lars did a very good paper on this. Most OEM advance curves tend to be fairly lazy and you won't get maximum centripital advance till over 4k rpm. OEM does this for the inconsistent quality of gas, I'm sure everyone has run across a bad tank at least once in their life. In this way the engine won't detonate itself to death, and it also tends to help Nox emmisisons as well, since cumbustion temps don't get as high with backed off timing. Most performance advance curves will have you running your max advance under 3k rpm and a lot under 2600 rpm. Some engines will pick up more power by changing the curve then others, it all depends on how the OEM setup was. I've got a feeling 72-74 motors get the most bang out of this, since the OEM was trying to reduce emmissions through tuning in these years without the advantage of convertors, so their curves would tend to be real slow, I think I had valve springs holding my weights in place. It made a big difference when I put lighter springs on mine.
