This can't be correct


71, 454, 4 speed.
things did not feel right, so I get under it and start to go over the bolts and nuts.
There are 2 bolts from a tranny bracket to the crossmember of the frame near the exhaust cut outs.

both bolts do not tighten.

I take one out (as shown on the pic)
it appears to be a sheetmetal screw.
Good God, tell me there should be a real nut and bolt here.
That's actually the bracket for mounting the shifter.
The mount for the rear of the transmission is forward of the center crossmember.
The bolts are loose because the threaded holes in the crossmember have been stripped.
You can reach through that little access on the bottom of the crossmember and put nuts on the end of slightly longer bolts.
