I want to put a digital dash in my 74 vette the one i like is by dakota digital but it shows in a 78 bezel ,i do not see one for sale that is for a 74 my question is can the resto shop make these fit speedo and tach above wheel and 5 gauges in the dash ,please respond i want to move on this ,or steer my in a better direction ,thanx frank !
Digital gauges have that 'cool' factor when you see them added into the dash of a custom car that you might see at a 'World of Wheels' show, etc. But, actually using them as something for a car that you want to drive is a different thing entirely. With an analog gauge, all you need to do is give a quick glance at a gauge to note the location of the gauge needle. But, for a digital gauge, your brain has to read the digits, then compute what that means to the characteristic being displayed by the gauge. Now, if you have 5 or 6 gauges to view and interpret how the car is operating....good luck with that. Not something I'd want in a 'working' car.
Just something you might think about, before you dump a grand or more into new gauges.
It's a "NSV" or "Non-supporting vendor" and I got my hands slapped last time for mentioning them even in a veiled manner...
I can understand your concern....BUT if no one sells them....and no one wants to sell them....and all we can suggest for MODS is/are what is offered by Supporting Vendors. I might as well leave the Forum now. When I 'thought' this Forum is to KEEP the Corvette ALIVE...unless I am wrong and it is about $$$.
