How much power steering fluid should I put in my 79
There is a mark on the gauge that is made into the cap. One is for when it is HOT and the other is when it is COLD....and is checked when the engine is NOT RUNNING.
It is important to have a volume of air available above the fluid surface in your power steering reservoir. So that is good information to try and purchase the correct capstick from one of the Corvette suppliers. The capstick will have a HOT and COLD mark on the stick.
It is very important to try and eliminate as much air as possible from within your power steering system BEFORE starting your engine. Here is a paper on "Getting The Air Out" of a recently serviced power steering system. You want to continue to add fluid into the reservoir as air works its way out of the system and the fluid level drops.
PS It is always good to provide a hint in your thread title as to your area of your Help question. I typically just skip over threads that do not provide hints as to Steering, etc. I just don't have enough time to look at all of them.
