Default Diamondback Redline Tire

Does anyone have some good pictures of the Diamondback redline tires they could post? It is my understanding they valcunize the 3/8 inch redline to a modern tire, in this case it would be BFG TA 245/60R15.

Before I spend the dollars I wanted to see what they really looked like. Would not like them if the redline portion looked out of place.

Thanks for any help.

Sorry about the formatting. Everything was fine as I typed and then skewed when saved, go figure.

Hi SCE,
In reading about the Diamondback tires it seems that the 'dimples' (sometimes 2-3-4 per tire) that many new tires have really bother some people.
It appears the 'dimples' are much more noticeable after Diamondback has done it's magic because the sidewall is so plain.
So?
Regards,
Alan

Thanks - I would not be happy with dimples or whatever we call them in the sidewalls. Besides that they look pretty good.

Is the dimple a every tire issue?

What causes a dimple?

They seem to be on most lower rates speed tires.

My Outback with continental tires has two on each tire. My kids Mazda 2 that came with Toyos had them but the BFG KDW2 do not.

Both of my other cars that have Goodyear Eagle Asymmetric 2 are fine. Also my RX7 with H rated Sumitomo tires also has a dimple on each tire.

Erv,

Diamondback offers a BFG Radial T/A with smooth sidewalls (no lettering)and any color stripe you want. They shouldn't have the dimples. We are about to buy a set of these in Goldlines for the 65'. They are around $1k shipped.

I wouldn't use the cheesy passenger car tires that DB offers. Your Vette will drive 10x better on BFGs then your current bias ply redlines.

A great tire size is 245/60/15 front, 255/60/15 rear.. Unless youre trying to keep it completely stock looking, then you will need a 225/70/15 I believe.

I know how the 245/60/15 tires handles, like your on a track. I wonder how the 225/70/15 would handle?

Anything is better than these nylon tires.

For no harder then you are going to push your car, the 225/70/15s will be fine. They are about 27" tall which is real close to the stock tire height. They will have a bit more body roll then the shorter 245/60s(26") but they will fill the fenders better. A 225 will be a bit stretched on 8" wheels but, that's how they looked from the factory with the F70s so... You'll mimick the stock look well and have a good performing tire.

Me, I like a little more meat on my plate so... I use 245 fronts and 255 rears most of the time. Now I run 275s on the rear that really fill the fender well. But when my car was stock, the 245/255 combo was great and the tires fit the wheel width correctly.

What year car do you have? And did you have any tire rub on the front with the 245? Thanx

Mine is a 71'. No tire rub with the 245/60 on the front. Not even close. A 255/60 on the front MAY rub.. Plus it's taller.

I feel the 245/60 is the perfect size for the front to fill out that 8" wheel.. But at 26.5", it's slightly shorter then the stock F70 tires. My car is about 1" lower then stock so they are perfect for me.
