hey gentlemen, I was wondering if anyone has swapped the original 4 speed trans for a new 6 speed trans from power train in a late model vette. I have a 73 that I was thinking about trading out one. any thoughts or opinion thanks scott

If you are thinking about a C5 or C6 six speed, it is a trans-axle and not really suited to a C3. A Camaro/Firebird, GTO, or Cadillac 6 speed would be a better swap, and it has been done many times. You could also look at aftermarket 5 & 6 speed transmissions.

If using a used GM six speed...the ZF design. Just be aware that if you do not use a dual mass flywheel...which is no longer being made...you will have noise coming out of the transmission due to not having the bushing in the flywheel as GM intended to stop this noise.

im installing one right now, in a 69 vette.I cut the center section of the trans crossmember out, then will make it a bolt on .then got a quick time bell housing with a new t56 magnum 266 first gear, which will work great with my 370 rear gear.So far I just have every thing torn apart.After i get transmission installed, I will fab up my side pipe headers to fit.
