Default Another "Where does this go" electrical question

OK I have this connector on my '74 Vert. It is coming out the hole where the tach drive comes thru. It has a red with white stripe and a green wire going to it. There is no connector anywhere near that I can see that would connect to this.

The red/white wire is HOT in run position. AIM suggests a wire for the backup lights comes thru the cowl at this location but putting in reverse does not activate either wire, (4 speed). Again there is no connection nearby to join to.

I am putting the dashboard back in and I wanted to make sure this was not pulled from the inside and should be attached to something behind the dash before I reinstall the dash.

Thanks for looking.

If only one side is "hot" while in run position, put a "jumper" in, and see if it activates the reverse lights circuit...

Or if you notice anyhting else that is activated that normally is not!

That is one of those "Yes, of course" answers.
Thank you.

If there wasn't 100 yards worth of 2 feet deep snow between me and where my car is stored I would go look for you.

You don't need to put a jumper in. Those are the wires that go to the b/u light switch on the transmission of a 4 speed. Definitely.
