finishing up my build and will be putting in a decent radio...does C3 require the ignition shield to be able to have NON interference with the radio frequency?
i am running thick 8.5mm MSD super conductor wires and ready-to-run distributor and SUPER coil block.
ALSO found a hi-power amped hidden antenna...for under passenger side dash....
the shielding is needed for AM reception, have no shielding and running spiral core wires. So you can see the old hose or it disappeared? With gas tank door removed you cannt see point to connect it to ?
apparently mine slipped off...any ideas on how to reattach without dropping the tank??
thanks,
R
Open the gas door, remove the fuel cap, remove the black rubber donut, you'll be able to feed the drain line up from under the car and attach it to the nipple on the donut. Use a zip tie to hold it on.
ANY Thoughts on Ignition shields?
never heard for AM only...

Wouldn't it be easier to just finish the car, drive it around with the radio on and see if you get any static. If not, you're done.
If you get some static you can always add the ignition shielding afterwards.

Factor,
After trying shields, RF filters, and different plug wires, the ONLY way I got rid of the radio static in my '73 was changing from Delco to Splitfire spark plugs. I was amazed.
When I first got my car (68 427)it had a MSD 6AL set up with thick taylor wires, could hear a faint high pitched whine in the factory radio when on. Later switched back to the stock ignition setup with lectric limited braided wires and added the shielding and the whine went away.
