Hello does anyone recommend a particular brand of headers. I'm picking up parts now for my springtime project. I've built a 383 and now I'm looking for headers that I don't have to do any mods to. I was going to go with short one, but I'm open for the more traditional one at the moment. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.
Thanks Lou

I found the driver side required a slight modification to clear the stearing box CC158 smaller tubes fit without modification. I dont think there are many long tubes that just fit. Most have reported some sort of fitment problem on 1 side or the other.
Flowtech makes headers that fit perfect on c3s, they're cheap too, don't worry too much about the d-port heads if you have them, as long as the header primary covers the exhaust port completely it doesn't matter what shape flange you have the pipes are still circular, ps I have a 73 with profiler heads which are d-ports and use flow tech headers they work great , I'm not sure how big of primaries they make mine are 1 5/8 which is good for a 350 but 383s need bigger primaries
Thanks Marc1973 and cagotzmann, I have the Edelbrock 60735 heads on the 383. My main concern is steering box. I would like to get a good set that I don't have dimple or cut the headers. I guess I'm going to call Summit and see what they recommend. Thanks Lou

The other thing to make sure is the clearence you will get with straight plugs. The boot covers for the plug boots may be very close to the headers and may burn easily. For a 383 you may wish to look at 1 3/4 tubes vs the 1 5/8 most use.
You may also require plug boot covers to prevent burning.
1 3/4 headers will make more upper rpm power and torque but I would trade a few ponies for clearance myself.Long tube 1 5/8 will make plenty of punch on a street driven 383.I had 1 5/8 long tubes on my 383 in my C4 and made 441 rwhp on a mild combination.
Do you have a part nbr for the flowtech? I need a set of longtube headers for angled sparkplugs.
I'd go with the 1 5/8 vs steering issues also - not worth it to me.

31106FLT is the part number for the ceramic coated ones, they sell just painted ones too, btw idk if they fit angle plugs I have them on profiler heads but I have straight plugs, there's a good amount of room though
