No thanks necssary, I've been following your progress in awe. At first I thought putting that engine in was interesting but had real concerns just how much fabrication that you would have to do. It does have a cool factor to it being so different than typical builds. I'm looking fwd to reading their follow up.
Thank-you for your advice in the past. Excellent work as always Richard! In the fall I plan on doing an Appalachian run from our border to maybe NO, who knows maybe I'll get to see it in person.
After reading it, I'm not sure if I'd want to talk to them, were I in your shoes.
Quotes from the article:
The mid-nineties German motor’s specs are ultimately unremarkable...
A GM crate motor weighs at least 100 lbs. less, would bolt right in and could be dialed up well over the output of this V-12, minus the fabrication gymnastics of making it fit. Just sayin’.
Aside from unholy motor swap,...
The owner will soon find out if the notoriety was worth the fuss of the swap.
The article isn't being too charitable, if you ask me. It focuses what you've done, sure, but with a snide "you're an idiot for doing it" attitude. At least, that's the way it read to me. They do mention it's a unique build, and admit that you've done some cool things, but overall it sounds to me like they're making fun of you.

Richard454......good job! Maybe the writer needs to spend a week-end re-installing your engine by himself to have an idea of the challenge involved (of course you get to hide all the fabricated mounts and brackets in a box/snicker-snicker)!!!!!!
Glad I could be of some help- do let me know when you are headed down south!!! A good buddy of mine was headed your way on the application last fall...got in a few weeks and work called him back.
Thanks guys...I was the kid that put the triangle peg in the circle because the square peg was too easy. Plus an old man once told me- if you can't be handsome -be handy...So I've gotten to be pretty handy!!!
Kris/doorgunner- yep - he's a little condescending-but then that's coming from a guy that writes about stuff rather than actually doing it!!!
However, the title- Uber- isn't just a taxicab app- in german means outstanding...I'll take that111
A guy (C5 owner) I got to know just by him stopping by on occasion when I had my 73 out and talked about car guy stuff...Then I showed him my basement project!!! This past weekend he stopped by- I had finished relocating the coils and the velocity stacks were all nice and shiny - then fired it up for him-his reaction was worth all the work I have put into this thing!!!
Hi Richard,
I still don't understand WHY, but any engine you can use the phrase 'velocity stacks' in describing is GOOD!
Carry on!
Regards,
Alan
Hey Alan-
I wanna personally THANK-YOU for your photo fetish!!! Thanks to your documentation w/pictures- every-time I "Google" looking for something on the C3- I find your well detailed pics helping me figure out how another piece/trim whatever is suppose to go. Been a BIG help!!!
