O.K, installed the radio and trying to rout speaker wires. I was pulling on the old left speaker wire and all of a sudden I see this 14 gauge wire with a pigtail hanging down. It's orange and has two connectors at one end. I'm guessing the other end goes into a harness.
You have to post good photos...and not so much of a close up of the end of the connector which is important and needed...but a photo further away so we can see where the wires are located.
Have you ever tried to look under a c3 dashboard? nearly impossible without taking the dash apart, I had my fill just getting the clock and radio out! You also need to be flexible like Gumby, I am not.
I tried to chase the mystery wire with my hand, definitely couldn't see the other end. I assume it goes into one of many of the harnesses behid the dash.

I have posted a picture of the wire. Can't get a picture of the underside of the dash.
YES..I know all about getting under the dash of a C3...I do it often.
NOW...keep in mind you have to post photos so there is NO MISTAKE on what I am looking at...so putting a white piece of pare behind the back connectors so they do not blend in with you carpet., I need to see the sides and connector ends of this pigtail assembly.
From what I can tell....the color of the wire is TAN...and I bet the end with the two wires coming off of it goes into your fuse panel for an accessory.
Appears to be the alarm wire, on my 70 it hooks to the fuse box, right, upper marked bat.? I have been chasing my alarm system wiring, recently got a Dr. Rebuild wiring diagram for mine. A very easy, concise, diagram. Does your alarm work.? On mine, power goes from fuse box directly to key lock at back. I do not know if the two years are similar.

THANKS...that is what I needed...PERFECT PHOTOS!!!!
Being a 1968...the terminal you are holding in the first photo in POST#8 will go into the center area of your fuse panel. By the way that it is shaped with the raised notch on one side...it will fit CORRECTLY in only ONE of the three ports you have in the center of your fuse panel. More than likely IGN terminal port....because I doubt it will be the BATT terminal...or the ACC terminal.
I will have to look at the wiring diagram...which I was looking at today oddly enough...so it I feel is your power windows.
Your car may not have an alarm due to it was an option and if your did have an alarm...there would be a lock cylinder in the rear body above your 'CORVETTE" letters.

No alarm. I didn't understand the bit about the power windows. pleas clarify.
Do your power windows work with this wire NOT connected and dangling down like you had shown in a photo or two???
IF your power windows DO NOT WORK.
THEN....you take the connector you took a photo of and posted fist in POST #8...and you plug it into the port in the center of your fuse panel...which will be a port that is in between your fuses. You have one vertical row of fuses on the left...and one vertical row on the right...and between these two rows are ports where you can plug a single wire connector. These ports are made in such a way that you can not put the one you have in one that is not tooled and made so the raised notch on the terminable will go into the fuse panel. Simple as that.
AND...just because you plug it in does not necessarily amen your windows work...BECAUSE the terminal is protected by one of the fuses right beside it...either to the left or right...and that fuse may be blown. So have you key on and check the voltage at the terminal your plan on plugging it into.
